Contemporary Dance is not associated with a specific Dance technique but rather a Dance philosophy. It incorporates several techniques including Ballet, Modern & Jazz, but centers upon exploring the natural energy and emotion of human body movement and places heavy emphasis on the mind/body connection. Students are encouraged to use their emotions as well as their bodies to perform characterizations and improvisations which often produce a very captivating, personal Dance form. Contemporary incorporates the same challenges as Lyrical while pushing the boundaries of choreography in leaps, turns and falls and encouraging students to explore ALL possibilities in the world of Dance.
A strong Ballet & Jazz background is recommended.

Students must be enrolled in Ballet simultaneously.
